Fall Clean Up
Volunteer Form

Picture
It’s that time of year when the leaves are turning colors and falling which means there’s a whole lot of raking to be done in our neighborhood!  While this work can be exhilarating on a brisk fall day and tiring as well, there are some important things to keep in mind.
First, keep leaves out of the street/storm drains.  Blocking the drains can result in localized flooding. Use yard waste bags or compost bins. When collecting leaves and grass clippings, use yard waste bags or containers specifically designated for this purpose. These are typically available at local home improvement stores.  A dedicated compost bin is available from the GFL for those of you who prefer to compost your yard waste, however, you can place a “COMPOST” sticker on any bin you already have. To purchase a wheeled cart for compost, a request can be placed with GFL through their customer portal https://myaccount.gflenv.com/, or call Don Barretta at 586-933-3812.

By taking proactive steps, such as using yard waste bags, composting, or mulching grass clippings and leaves, we can prevent these materials from entering our stormwater system, thus reducing the need for expensive dredging operations in the future. Your cooperation in these efforts will help us maintain our community's financial stability and protect our property values.
